Top 100 Franchises

2016

In the more than 65 years that Mac Tools has been serving technicians, they have built one of the world's most recognized and trusted brands in the professional automotive industry. As a division of The Stanley Works, Mac Tools can offer the advantages of being part of an S&P; 500 company, while also providing the personalized customer service of a smaller company. It is the best of both worlds…and with their Customers For Life program, they are ready to prove to you that joining the Mac Tools family is something that will be a win-win for you and for the technicians you will support. Today, Mac Tools has a product line in excess of 42,000 items, and still uses the direct sales approach with a mobile sales force of distributors. The Mac Tools philosophy of excellent quality, price and service remains unchanged over the years, and the company spirit that made them successful in 1938, is the same spirit that makes them a leader in the automotive tool and equipment business today.

Ongoing Expenses

Mac Tools franchisees pay an annual fee of $900, occasional advertising fees, and monthly insurance fees of either $340 or $2,040, among other fees. Every week, franchisees are responsible for on-going purchases of products to replenish their tool inventory.

What You Get: Training and Support

Approximately one week prior to the start of Mac Tools' initial training program, franchisees may be permitted to participate in a "Mentor Ride," during which the franchise candidate accompanies an existing Mac Tools franchisee or distributor on their daily route. The "Mentor Ride" lasts approximately five business days and is a terrific opportunity to experience life on the job and observe day-to-day operations firsthand. The Mac Tools initial training program includes five days of classroom training, or "Tool School," held in Columbus, OH. The extensive training covers such topics as Mac Tools policy, sales, business management, collection and operating procedures, training in merchandising and product knowledge, bookkeeping, inventory control, and tool repair. The program also involves up to 80 hours of on-the-job training at a Mac Tools location near you.
