Captain D's Since the first Captain D’s opened in Tennessee in 1969, the restaurant has had a simple concept: to serve high-quality, quick-service seafood. Today, with more than 550 locations, Captain D’s serves up an extensive menu of fried fish, shrimp and chicken, complemented by a multitude of side dishes and seasonal and regional favorites. Captain D’s primary objective has always been to provide great-tasting seafood, good value and warm, friendly service, but the restaurants are always looking to the future by expanding to new states and new markets, evolving the Captain D’s concept, and looking at fresh new menu choices. With
industry experts predicting that seafood consumption will continue to grow at
record levels, Captain D’s is well positioned to take advantage of the opportunity
presented by this demand, with forty years experience and a well-established
concept.

D’s provides the following range of investments required to open your initial
franchise. The range assumes that all items are paid for in cash. To the extent
that you choose to finance any of these expense items, your front-end
investment could be substantially reduced.
On-going
Expenses
Captain
D’s franchisees pay royalty fees equal to 4.5% of gross sales for traditional
locations and 5% of gross sales for non-traditional locations, advertising fees
equal to a maximum of 1.25% of gross sales and a co-operative advertising

and Support Prior
to opening, franchisees undergo an intensive six-week training course at

training. Captain D’s helps franchisees train managers and employees and
provides on-site support before, during and after restaurant opening so that
everything runs smoothly. After
opening, Captain D’s provides one-week workshops in the areas of human
resources, finance, technology and other business topics for franchisees.
Captain D’s provides an on-site computer module at each restaurant, Captain’s
Compass, to train all new employees.
Each franchisee is assigned a New Restaurant Opening Manager, who acts
as a liaison to the corporate office and provides continued support on
operational procedures, local marketing and follow-up training. Captain D’s provides assistance in
effectively forming and managing marketing co-operatives and developing local
marketing strategies, in addition to working diligently on national campaigns
including television and radio advertisements. Territory
