The German Franchise Association, founded in 1978, promotes franchising--the cooperative system of marketing and distribution--in Germany. Its special function is to supervise the interests of franchisors who are active in Germany. Its work is based on the precise "official" definition of the term "franchise," the establishment of franchisors' and franchisees' rights and obligations, and the association's Code of Ethics, which is binding for all members. This provides a uniform image for reputable franchising and allows dishonest systems to be kept under control.
