The key problem encountered by most potential franchisees is their inability to realistically project what their sales and earnings will be. Unfortunately, less than 15% of franchisors provide such projections as an assist to prospective franchisees. The projections/ guidelines are referred to as Earnings Claims and can only be obtained through the company's Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC). "How Much Can I Make?" provides recent actual sales, costs and/or profit data or guidelines on over 140 broad-based franchise systems. The list runs from the McDonald's and Taco Bell's of the world to newer, smaller franchises with only a few operating units. Major industry categories are covered. Given that the franchisor is not allowed to make or even discuss any financial projections other than those published in its UFOC, the data is especially meaningful.
