Window Genie

As more and more homes become two-income households, the demand for home services multiplies. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that the industry would be the second-largest source of new jobs through 2005, and Window Genie is an ideal franchise vehicle to tap into the market growth of an industry in which a national leader has yet to emerge.

But Window Genie does more than windows. In addition to window cleaning, the company also performs window tinting (which helps homeowners boost security and shrink energy costs) and pressure washing for exterior surfaces such as decks. Still, no matter how high the caliber of a Window Genie franchises work, the cycle of nature guarantees that windows and decks will always get dirty again, ensuring an ongoing need for repeat services.

Window Genie provides services that maids frequently do not, and though they cater to both commercial and residential customers (current homeowners as well as those showcasing their homes for sale), Window Genie franchises usually stick to a weekday schedule, leaving weekends open for leisure and family time. Managers can work from home and the business requires little inventory to serve a broad market.

Investment Required
The fee for a Window Genie franchise varies according to the size of the marketing territory assigned. For a territory with a population of approximately 100,000, the fee is $19,500; for a territory with a population of approximately 175,000, the fee is $29,500; and for a territory of approximately 250,000, the fee is $39,500.

Window Genie provides the following range of investments required to open your initial franchise. The range assumes that all items are paid for in cash. To the extent that you choose to finance any of these expense items, your front-end investment could be substantially reduced. The following figures refer to the opening of a franchise in a territory with a population of approximately 175,000.

On-Going Expenses
Window Genie franchisees pay a local advertising fee that varies by the size of their marketing territory. For a territory with a population of approximately 100,000, the fee ranges from $17,750 to $25,000; the fee for a territory with a population of approximately 175,000 ranges from $25,000 to $35,000; and the fee for a territory of approximately 250,000 ranges from $31,250 to $45,000.

Window Genie franchisees also pay a royalty fee equal to 6% of gross revenue and a regional and national advertising fee equal to 1% of gross revenue.

What You GetTraining and Support
Each Window Genie market is evaluated according to its demographics, population, housing values and forecasted growth. Then Window Genie franchisees undergo five days of training at the franchisors corporate office to familiarize themselves with business operations, marketing, sales and administration, and practice service procedures at the window wall training center. That training is supplemented by five days with a trainer in the franchisees own territory, a visit that is scheduled to coincide with the franchisees grand opening.

As a member of the Window Genie system, franchisees have access to national plans for health and business insurance, advertising, equipment purchasing, products, supplies and promotional materials, including business cards, stationery, brochures, postcards, door hangers, uniforms, vehicle and office signage and radio scripts.

Assistance is later available with employee hiring, software applications, services procedures and sales through phone calls, operations manuals and training videos. Additional resources include proprietary software for billing, scheduling and record-keeping, newsletters, monthly teleconferences, an online bulletin board and an annual winter meeting with fellow franchisees.

Territory
Window Genie grants protected marketing territories, meaning that franchisees can work with but not market their services to customers outside their designated territories.
