| To
launch USA Today's annual Franchising Today section,
the
National Minority Franchising Initiative has selected
“50 Top Franchises for Minorities” as exceptional
systems that have demonstrated a focus on recruiting and
supporting minority franchisees into their systems. Selection
was based on many factors, including historical performance,
brand identification, market dynamics, franchisee satisfaction,
the level of initial training, on-going support and financial
stability. More importantly, selection was based on the
results of a detailed questionnaire that focused on the
minority make-up of the existing franchisee base, minority
representation at a senior management level within the
franchisor itself and what incentive programs were offered
to minority franchisees. In addition to the USA TODAY
circulation of 2.5 million, the September 28th paper will
be distributed at the West Coast Franchise Expo, Los Angeles
Convention Center, October 19 - 21, 2007. |

the Date! The National Minority Franchising Initiative
will sponsor the first national Minority Franchising Summit
on April 24 - 26, 2008. It will be held at the Marriott
Downtown in Chicago and will focus on “Building
Foundations, Inspiring Solutions and Sharing Best Practices
in New Emerging Markets.” Over 20 industry and government
leaders will discuss their unique insights, expertise
and recommendations on how to increase the number of minorities
in franchising. To ensure that the atmosphere is not too
serious, we have reserved the Chicago Bears Stadium “SkyBox”
for Thursday evening and Shedd Aquarium for Friday evening.
Details on this comprehensive and content-rich
Summit will be sent to potential attendees within the
next six weeks. Details will also be posted on www.minorityfranchising.com.
